Ways to Harmony

Healing Energies of Trees

I love the natural world and trees have always had a special meaning and a special power for me. They are a great teacher and they demonstrate and symbolize how to live in the world with grace, groundedness, openness and connectedness. They help move energy by connecting with the Earth and acting as a channel for its energy.

Trees are an amazing spiritual symbol and they represent grounded connected life very well. If we consider how a tree exists this becomes clear. A tree is dependent on the world around it, it needs light, water, air and soil to grow and prosper. Yet if a tree is to survive it must put down strong roots deep into the ground while reaching up into the sky to the sun so it must be grounded in the Earth while open to the sky. If it is not well grounded a strong wind can topple it or even blow it away but if well grounded a tree can and must withstand storms and the tumult of the outside world. It must also be flexible so as not to break in the wind, a balance of strong grounding and flexibility.
Humans too must be well grounded in themselves, the Earth and in Spirit if they are to withstand the trials of life. If we are not well grounded we tend to be swept up in the circumstances and emotional drama of our lives and this is particularly true in these intense times. However if we are well grounded, we find our stability within and we are not swept away even in the most difficult of times.

To find your own healing tree is simple and below tells you how.(try to find strong and healthy tree)
On entering a quiet park or forest, that has a variety of trees. Stand quietly amongst the trees and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and release all thoughts from your mind. Then allow your consciousness to drop through your body, and to settle within your heart chakra. With your eyes now open, but unfocused, start walking through the trees. You should be able to feel the energy of each tree as you enter its aura. When you find an energy that feels right for you, mentally ask the tree for permission to physically make contact. If you then feel that it is right to do so, approach the tree and place your back against it. Feel the energy of the tree resonating within you. Which one of your chakras does this tree seem to affect the most? Once you have selected your tree you can then hug it, once again this is very simple to do. find a strong tree

Position your feet so that they are flat on the ground, if possible, remove your shoes so that your feet are making contact with the earth, this will aid in the grounding process. Now wrap your arms around the trunk of the tree, close your eyes, and take at least three deep breaths, loosening your muscles at the same time. Acknowledge any negativity you may have stored in your system, thoughts of worry, anxiety, past hurts, grudgers, physical pain and other bad energy. Now release then one by one to the earth, watching them sink deep into the soil beneath you, imagine that energy being soaked up, and neutralized by the earth’s healing energies.

When you are ready, imagine the healing energy of the earth begin rising up through the soles of your feet, you can imagine this energy as having a color, even a texture. Feel this energy rising up through your limbs. Into your torso, your arms, your shoulders, your neck and head then out through the crown of your head.

Now visualize pure healing white light from the universe streaming down into you through the crown of your head. Imagine this light flowing throughout your body, and sink into the ground through the soles of your feet. See the two energies mixing within your body, harmonizing and balancing your energies. Allow both energies to run for a few minutes.

It is important to breathe deeply and slowly while you do this exercise. You might feel tingling, buzzing, warmth or energy coursing through your body, all of which is normal. If you feel yourself getting dizzy slow down the energy flow, and take it easy for a few minutes. Slowly bring yourself back to the present and detach yourself from the tree gently. Thank the healing tree for its assistance, as well as mother earth for her healing and loving energies.
I think this practice is a powerful one because we can be so disconnected from nature in our modern world yet we are a product of nature.
Mother Nature is just life energy and so in reconnecting with her she can help us remove the obstructions and free this energy returning it to source while allowing it to flow through us in a way that allows us to live fully connected with life.
